Finca del Carmen is a small family-owned and operated farm located in the foothills of Mount Malarayat ,Lipa City, Batangas. It is named in honor of the family's matriarch Maria del Carmen Ormaechea Alonso and her patroness Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Our Robusta Coffee farm is committed to sustainable agriculture that not only protects the environment and ecosystems, but is also guided by a gain-sharing system to improve the lives of farmer families who have helped us work the land and care for the coffee trees.
Our trees are pesticide-free. Coffee seedlings were planted, watered and weeded by hand for the first 3 years of their lives before rain watered and supplemented by drip irrigation. The surrounding fruit orchard, partial shade and moderate altitude they are grown in, contributes to the sweetness of every hand-picked coffee beannto produce the highest quality coffee.
3 sides to our Robusta:
Gold Bag.....Tuyo sa Araw-Dry Process. Full-bodied, bright aftertaste.
Black Bag.....Tuyo sa Puno-Left drying on the tree. A new type of coffee processing we discovered by accident. Because we couldn't pick ripe coffee beans fast enough, they shrivelled and dried on the tree. Also called Re-Passed or raisins, Unique fine body, lively acidity, rich flavor.
Silver Bag....Hinugas sa Tubig-Wet Process. Sweet, clean coffee taste.
With every purchase of our coffee, a portion goes to support the advocacy of the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines. www.birdwatch.ph
